Notes from IMC Meeting 11-11-07

CAPCR sidebar/section on IMC?
- CAPCR will soon be reintroducing local control bill, need an online resource
- Ongoing question about how to offer IMC as a resource w/o simply giving out soapboxes
- How to preserve journalistic profile, and editorial identity?
- Should CAPCR get it's own entire site hosted on CAMP webserver, or embedded sidebar?
- confluence, which has its own website, would get link, not embedded sidebar

- Related: contact Lionel Nixon of UAPO to ask if they could use a website similar to what we could offer CAPCR.

Feature "Wilderness for Missouri" story?
- ask Jim Scheff which story from wilderness newspaper he'd like to propose to IMC editors as feature

Kevin Johnson story from Confluence
- Digger to post soon to draft editorial

Tech issues with website reboot.stimc.org
- Ben: there are still things we need to set up before site is a reasonable replacement for the old site at stlimc.org, e.g. measures to make sure IP addresses of visitors aren't stored indefinitely.
- When it is done, the switchover at stlimc.org from old site to new one will occur, in a few hours.

Need for promotion, ASAP
- Flyers, Create Buzz about alternative media
- People are actively seeking out alternative source
- Promote specifically to groups like CAPR, UAPO (folks who could use IMC as online resource)?
- Also, how to flyer? That is, have a generic flyer like the one used in 2001, or include titles 5 of latest features, for example?

Scottie presented letter of protest to KDHX
- Formal protest about KDHX staff conduct during KDHX/STLIMC joint agreement with community media training courses, sent to KDHX board via registered mail.
- Letter seeks redress by asking that people who tried to sign up for courses via IMC website be offered spots in the next available training courses.
- Scottie made clear letter was written from Scottie; i.e. he doesn't claim to speak for IMC in the letter.
