FOX News Suggests Mortgages for Minorities Caused Financial Collapse

Neil Cavuto, host of Fox News' Your World, conflated giving home mortgages to minorities with risky lending practices, suggesting that efforts to increase homeownership among minority borrowers contributed to financial problems at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Discussing the decision by the U.S. Treasury Department and the Federal Housing Finance Agency to place Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into conservatorship, Cavuto asked Rep.

Pipe scheme: ICC judge to weigh Canadian pipeline's demand for eminent domain in Illinois

Pipe scheme
ICC judge to weigh Canadian pipeline's demand for eminent domain
BY PETER DOWNS, Illinois Times
JULY 3, 2008

Should a $10 billion Canadian oil and gas delivery company get the right to take a private nature preserve from a retired Illinois railroad conductor? Larry Jones, an administrative law judge with the Illinois Commerce Commission, is set to begin hearings in Springfield on July 8 to settle that question.
Carlisle Kelly’s nature preserve isn’t large, only 205 acres, but the battle for control of piece of his property is seen as a test of how much Americans are being asked to give up to supply the world’s energy needs.

The Best Farmland in the U.S. Is Flooded; Most Americans Are Too Stupid to Panic

The best commentary I could offer is a link to a previous story:

World’s Largest Maker of Crop Nutrients: Famines May Occur Without Record Harvests

But I’ll ramble on a bit more about this, anyway.

As soon as I became aware of the flooding situation in the American Midwest, I posted the story with the EMERGENCY prefix on the title.
Just so we’re clear, when I write EMERGENCY at the beginning of a post
title, this is my way of indicating that the situation is as serious as
it gets. It means that I feel as though everyone reading should
consider taking immediate evasive action. All the jawboning about
conspiracy, how things could have been, how things should be, etc. are
behind us now. You know, EMERGENCY, act fast, eyes wide, nostrils
flared, etc.

While the food supply situation has skated along a knife edge so far
this year, with higher prices and many countries experiencing food
riots, widespread famine did not take hold. In an incredible move, the Japanese quietly eased rice shortages
by releasing portions of their imported rice stockpiles—from giant
warehouses in Tokyo—into the system; a welcome but one off blip in the
big picture. What happens next time?

Executive Signing Statements

Pharaoh Bush - Let My People Go

In a refreshing investigative series in the Boston Globe from 2006, journalist Charlie Savage dropped a bombshell on the Bush administration . Reporting on Bush’s use of signing statements, Savage highlighted the president’s long-standing contempt for legislative authority. Since then, the story has generally been overlooked, although it recently resurfaced when bush issued another statement that he would disregard Congress’s prohibition of permanent military bases in Iraq.

Gohmann Asphalt and Construction, Inc. is a disgusting company that has decided to proceed with business in the construction of Interstate-69 (I-69) which is the North American Free Trade Agreement's (NAFTA) superhighway.
