Drupal Modules used on STLIMC

Below is a list of the Drupal modules used on new the STLIMC website.

How the new STLIMC Website Was Built

How the new STLIMC site was built using Drupal (drupal.org). The first in what will likely be many drafts...

"Sections" on STLIMC
The "sections" vocabulary on reboot.stlimc.org has the following terms:
newswire
feature

Defining the newswire and feature spaces as taxonomy terms allows the site to use the same content-types (and thus the same content submission forms) for both. This greatly simplifies upgrades (e.g. adding capability to upload images in batch), since the upgrades need only be performed on a single content type to affect both newswire and features.

Migration Todo for Archive.stlimc.org

Migrate stories to drupal (but no comments?):
https://docs.indymedia.org/view/Devel/ImcDrupalMigrationDada

Alternatively, make a static copy of the dadaIMC site:
https://docs.indymedia.org/view/Devel/DadaImcStaticCopy

Before making httrack archive:
- change logo image to say "ARCHIVE" prominently
- disable accounts module (i.e. no login box) (this also disables listing of posts by a particular user, so don't disable module)
- turn off content submission (also the rating box?)
- remove /docs/ from robots.txt (why?)

- Content submission. Please read up on CCK module from Drupal. This lets you extend existing content submission forms with new fields, widgets, and add-ons. Also would like to work out elegant image attachment, and ultimately an upload dialog for large files.

How to get media on the page

In my opinion, the best way to explain how to upload video is like this. It really allows people to differentiate between the methodologies that they can choose from, rather than to impose upon upon them the need to know how to embed video within the html of their story, like the Bay Area site does.

IMC sites for layout ideas

I really like the layout of the SF Bay Area IMC site:

http://www.indybay.org/

Specifically, I like that the header is very short/narrow, just big enough for the images, the IMC icon and name. I also like their streamlined links underneath the header (About, Contact, Subscribe, Calendar, Publish, Print and Donate).

IMC-STL virtual barnraiser, 8/11

A call out to all interested parties for the IMC St. Louis "Virtual Barnraising" of the website http://reboot.stlimc.org/
