Economic Depression Survival Guide
This story is an email I recieved that actually seems helpful in the event of an economic depression.
Sorry, I don't usually post emails, but thought I would make an exception for this:

Entire US financial system is to come under the scrutiny of the IMF
The entire US financial system is to come under the scrutiny of the IMF. Humiliation for Mr. Dollar: Ben Bernanke, the chairman of the United States Federal Reserve Bank, faces a general investigation by the International Monetary Fund. Just one more example of the Fed losing its power. For seven years, US President George W. Bush refused to allow the IMF to conduct its assessment. Even now, he has only given the IMF board his consent under one important condition. The review can begin in Bush's last year in office, but it may not be completed until he has left the White House.

The Shrinking Influence of the US Federal Reserve
By Gabor Steingart in Washington
The United States Federal Reserve Bank, or Fed, seems as much a part of America as Coca-Cola or Pizza Hut. But at least one difference has become apparent in recent days. While the pizza chain and soft-drink maker are likely to expand their scope of influence in the age of globalization, the US central bank is finding that its power is shrinking.
No Fed chief in US history has been forced to submit to the kind of humiliation that Ben Bernanke is facing.
America’s Berlin Wall
QUEUES of frustrated foreigners crowd many an American consulate around the world hoping to get into the United States. Less noticed are the heavily taxed American expatriates wanting to get out—by renouncing their citizenship.

In the Oval Office ceremony Tuesday morning, which was attended by nine Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries from around the world and a Chabad-Lubavitch Chasid who serves as a New York City middle school principal, Bush also inscribed a Passover Haggadah that will be sent to Jewish troops stationed in Iraq.- Joshua Runyan

The events described below justify the resignation of our 'Orthodox Jewish' U.S.Attorney General Muckasey as well as the fascist Israeli-American 'citizen' Michael Chertoff who helped create the U.S. Homeland Security office he oversees as well as ICE or Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Fitting that ICE is also a slang term used for methamphetamines in English.
Congress Must Apply Strategic Economic Sanctions Against Saudi Arabia and OPEC Nations
It is time the U.S. "steps-up to the plate" and starts "swinging" aggressively at the oil cartel.
There is a simple solution to high gas prices and the oil crisis.
Plain and simple:
The U.S. must withhold sending military intelligence services, weaponry, planes and arms to Saudi Arabia until that nation leads the OPEC nations in increasing oil production.
The law of supply and demand would settle the oil and gas crisis.
If it did this today, the U.S. within weeks would see a cut in oil and gas prices.
So, why is our Congress so complacent and willing to sit back and watch as Americans pay more and more at the gas pumps?
The time to act is now!

Windsor, Canada: Refugees pose 'potential crisis'
Over the past three weeks, 45 families and 31 individuals -- approximately 200 people -- entered Canada at the Detroit River crossings and applied in Windsor for shelter and social assistance after filing refugee claims with the Canada Border Services Agency. Municipal agencies dealing with the sudden influx of mainly Mexican refugee applicants are renting out hotel rooms and bracing for predicted thousands more to come...the average processing time for a refugee claim in Canada is currently 14.2 months, said Hawkins, a period during which the applicant is eligible for financial and other support. A failed claimant then also has the right to seek leave to appeal his or her rejection to federal court.

With city shelters filled and a surge of further refugee claimants expected to flood into Windsor, Mayor Eddie Francis is pleading for financial help from Ottawa.
"When there is a possibility of adding thousands to the local social assistance system as a result of refugee claimants crossing the border into Windsor, we will become overwhelmed and our current resources will not suffice," Francis wrote in a letter sent Wednesday to Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Sign up for Surviving Climate Change Roundtable 6/27-6/29: Producing Less and Enjoying it More
WHEN: Fri eve - Sun aft , Jun 27-29, 2008
WHERE: Webster University, 420 E. Lockwood Ave., St. Louis, MO 63119
The effects of climate change, peak oil and toxic production are here. We know it every time we see news of weather disasters and disappearing species. We feel it every time we buy gas. We hear it every time a child uses an asthma inhaler.
Solutions are here, also. But meaningful changes are being stubbornly ignored by government, big business and big enviro:
-
A genuine effort at reducing greenhouse gases would require food to be grown within 100 miles of where it is eaten.
-
A serious climate change program would stop funding the 800 military bases which ensure a continuous flow of oil to the US.
-
The most energy efficient homes are homes that have no heating system at all.
-
The most energy efficient cars are those that are replaced by trains, buses, bicycles or feet.

Mexican Resistance Enters New Stage in Struggle to Defend Oil Resources
APRIL 28, 2008 -- The Peaceful Civil Resistance Movement in Mexico has entered a new stage in their struggle against the U.S.-led offensive to privatize Pemex, Mexico's national oil corporation. On Friday, April 25, the deputies of the three political parties that make up the Broad Progressive Front (FAP) ended their 16-day takeover/occupation of the Senate and National Assembly chambers in Mexico after a deal was worked out with the legislative coordinators of the two ruling parties in Mexico: the PRI and the PAN.
As they took down their "Clausurado" [Shut Down] banner from the rostrums of the two houses of Mexico's Congress, the FAP deputies declared victory, singing the national anthem and chanting slogans to defend Pemex.
Maoist China foreign policy: 1970s and 1980s
The Mandate of Heaven (Excerpt). A detailed account of Maoist Chinese foreign policy is beyond the scope of this article, but some examples will illustrate the central thesis: that China’s foreign policy is in no way different from that of other world powers. The Three-Worlds Theory was used to justify Chinese alliances with right-wing reactionary governments during the 1970s and 1980s.
The Third World
Asia
(a) SOUTHEAST ASIA. Only in China’s traditional “sphere of influence” has the People’s Republic given consistent material support to powers abroad – to North Korea and North Vietnam – and verbal support to movements against governments with which it has friendly diplomatic relations.
